Greetings all! I made the trip down from Akron last year for opening day not knowing what to expect. IMO the people make a good faire and your faire is excellent! I met many great people that day. You accepted my comrade and I as your own and dragged us right into the chess match. It was truly a great day! Everyone was so friendly and eager to talk and mingle that I couldn't tell cast from playtrons. My home faire is GLMF and I felt right at home at your faire.

Needless to say I can't wait to come back and am already making plans. I was wondering where everyone stays? I'm bringing at least three friends with me this year. I'd prefer a hotel but am willing to camp to be around other rennies for the weekend.

Lots of hotels listed here:
http://www.kyrenfaire.com/content/eventinfo.html

I know quite a few people stay in Shelbyville. I think the Best Western is the "official" hotel (is it still?), but I've heard people mention the Days Inn too. I think most of the hotels there are about a 15-20 minute drive.

Haven't heard much about people camping, hopefully someone else can chime in.

And in what specie would you be wanting that in? But you are correct in that we have 2 open call audition dates -
January 30, noon to 5 PM and March 20 10 AM to 5 PM.
See the forum board "Cast Auditions 2010" under the Ky Faire news.

Sorry Old Tinker! I neglected to answer your question. I do know the names you mentioned from GLMF but I'm not sure exactly who they are. I'm usually there with two other armored knights like me, one kilted archer and the other is a Cavalier you might know who goes by Higgins. I think I may have met you a couple of times at OHRF.

Looking forward to seeing you as well Old Tinker.

Beladoon, I was there opening day in 2009. I was a knight in full arm and leg harness wearing a blue and white surcoat. I remember being told by a few people to run for cover when the small thunder storms rolled in. This year maybe I'll attach a copper wire somewhere and let it drag the ground behind me. In case it looks like rain again, I'll be properly grounded.

We made reservations at the recommended Best Western. I Mapquested the distance from Jericho and the Best Western and it seemed they were both about the same distance to the faire. I do like camping but a hot shower and a bed to sleep in after faire sounded better than an air mattress and who knows what kind of bathing facilities. Also, I can travel lighter.

Hopefully this old knight will have enough energy for some after faire festivities if any turn-up.
