Looking to become an actor????

Does the Renaissance life of a village in Scotland appeal to you? Can you envision yourself Nobility or Landed Gentry?Do you like the acting freedom of improvisation? Looking for something fun and exciting to do on weekends?

The Kentucky Highland Renaissance Festival invites you to join the Briarwood Players during the 5th annual Renaissance Faire. The Briarwood Players are an Improv Acting Ensemble who present as Noble Lords and Ladies, Men-at-arms, and villagers to populate the 14th century village of Briarwood during the Reign of Robert the Bruce who has gathered his forces to drive the English out of Scotland. . We are also looking for Squires to assist with the Joust (no riding required).

Faire Dates are June 5 – July 11 weekends only.
Open auditions will be held March 20, 2010, 10 AM to 5 PM & March 21, 2010 12 PM to 5 PM We ask that you prepare a 2 – 3 minute monologue, a short singing selection, and do short bit of Improv with our provided straight men.

The dates for the 2010 Highland Renaissance Festival are June 5th - July 11th, 2010,  Weekends Only, 10:00am - 7:00pm.  Rain or Shine!!

2010 Themed Weekends

June 5th - June 6th  Celtic weekend - Join us for OPENING WEEKEND with food and drink from the Celtic Nations.

June 12th - June 13th  Pirate Weekend - The pirates are invading with and paying for the kids to get in FREE this weekend.  The cooks from the ship's galley are cooking up a speciall fare from the sea...AAARRRRGGG!!

June 19th - June 20th  Romance Weekend - Chocolate is said to be the food of romance, so the chefs are preparing some special treats for the romace in us all.

June 26th - June 27th  Masquerade Weekend - This is also the weekend of the Coronation.  Come see who's under the mask! With dishes fit for  a Masquerade Ball, this weekend is one to not be missed!!

July 3rd - July 4th  Tournament Weekend -  The Knights will all be challenging one another to be crowned champion.  Plus, new this year, will be The Heavy Athletics and Archery Tournament.  The Archery Tournament is open to all archers from across the country. Throw in some special hearty dishes, and this may be the best weekend yet!

July 10th & July 11th -Jacobite Weekend -  As the armies of Bonny Prince Charlie gather to repel the English invasion, we have called on all the great Lords in Scotland to send support and when that happens, you can always count on a celebration with some of the best food, drink and merchants from the Highlands. 

Come join us for a fun filled experience with  food, drink, crafts, games and entertainment for all ages!
